Patient Transporter In Illinois Job Details

Transport patients to and from various areas of the medical center, Baylis building and SIU clinics by stretcher, wheelchair or bed.  Ensure patient comfort and safety during transport.

Requirements for this position include:

     1.   High School graduate.

     2.   Physically able to transport patients to all required areas using wheelchairs, stretchers and beds.

     3.   Excellent interpersonal and guest relation skills.

     4.   Ability to follow written and verbal directions.

     5.   Ability to take direction from computerized patient tracking system.

     6.   Moderate to heavy physical effort.

     7.   Ability to successfully complete intense training in (6) areas in a (2) week period.

           Training provided by Infection Control, R.T., MMC Ind. Rehab, Customer Service and (2) classes

           on CPR and Restraints are taught by trained Team Leaders.  Transporters resume responsibility

           of patients safety upon completing and passing these training courses.
