Basic Function:

Under general supervision, develops, codes, tests and debugs new software or significant enhancements to existing software. Works with technical staff to understand problems with software and develops specifications to resolve them.  Resolves user complaints and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements. Participates in development of software user documentation. May act as lead on projects and demonstrate software. Assists in training less experienced programmers.

Requirements for this position include:

1. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Math or another computer type degree.  Four of more equivalent applied knowledge specific to extensive programming background may be considered in lieu of educational requirements preferably in a healthcare setting.  


2. Five or more years experience in programming in diverse languages including but not limited to Micro focus COBOL, Perl, SQL or equivalent. 


3. Proficient understanding of computer systems including hardware, operating systems, programming languages and data communications.


4. Ability to program both standard and proprietary programming languages.


5. Ability to train and provide guidance to less experienced programmers.


6. Ability to act as a lead on technical projects utilizing project management tools and methodologies.


7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


8. Skill in developing and maintaining excellent interpersonal relationships with customers, teammates and management.


9. Thorough understanding of business tools including estimating, budgeting, project tracking and risk assessments.


10. Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to consistently exercise sound judgment and initiative in very stressful situations required.  Ability to effectively manage competing priorities essential. 


11. Demonstrated dedication o a positive attitude, strong customer service support and commitment to the achievement of Memorial?s strategic goals are required.


12. Availability for evening and weekend ?on-call? as required for 24 hour, 7 day / week support. 


13. Availability for timely and accurate completion of projects beyond normal business hours also required as needed.


14. Light physical effort.
