Hours: 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., with weekends as needed

Basic Function: Performs duties with assistance from other maintenance shops to provide maintenance services to the Medical Center as assigned.  After basic experience in all maintenance shops, employee will work under general supervision providing routine preventative maintenance to all areas of the Medical Center as assigned.  Assists in maintaining plant and equipment, systems, devices and apparatus in safe and proper working order per established policies/procedures, work order specifications and appropriate codes.

Requirements for this position include:

1)     High school diploma or equivalent.

2)     Trade experience or vocational school preferred.

3)     0-24 months of specific trades training or equivalent experience/training such as maintenance or repair shop/service.

4)     Basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, carpentry preferred.

5)     Mechanical aptitude and basic math skills.

6)     Demonstrated ability to understand and follow specific procedures, codes and policies.

7)     Demonstrated physical effort to complete tasks, lifting up to 75 pounds.

8)     Must possess valid Illinois drivers license and must be deemed as an acceptable driver in accordance with the MHS Fleet Safety Policy (five year MVR will be required).

9)  Able to operate computers and computer software.
