Basic Function: Initiates, maintains, and discontinues basic and intensive respiratory therapy techniques and equipment in the administration of prescribed respiratory care procedures to patients with cardiopulmonary disorders.

Requirements: 1. Graduate of an approved AMA school of respiratory care is required. 2. Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care is required. 3. Possesses a valid and active Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner license is required. 4. One or more years of skill homecare experience preferred, including the care of tracheotomy and ventilator patients. 5. Ability to provide respiratory care and therapy to patients of all ages and conditions, including ventilator dependent and tracheostomy patients is required. 6. Must possess valid Illinois drivers license and must be deemed as an acceptable driver in accordance with the MHS Fleet Safety Policy (five year MVR will be required). Must have availablity of personal vehicle with proof of insurance. 7. Ability to push and pull up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift up to 35 pounds is required. Possesses the knowledge of, or demonstrates the willingness to learn, Medicare coverage guidelines and basic reimbursement policies is required
