Basic Function:

Perform responsible technical work on patients 15 years of age and older in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.  Responsible for the operation of various types of equipment and apparatus in providing assistance and support to the physicians conducting cardiovascular procedures. Responsible for the proper operation of x-ray equipment and radiation safety.  This work is performed under the supervision of the Manager of the Cardiac Cath Lab.

Requirements for this position include:

1.    Graduate of approved School of Radiology or equivalent training (if hired before September, 1990).

2.    Maintain an Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety license and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certificate or provide proof of being registry eligible. 

3.    Radiation safety classes for all technologists working in the Cath Lab after employment.

4.    Has successfully completed a basic EKG class after employment.
