Basic Function:
Under limited supervision, the Application Architect researches, designs and develops enterprise-wide architecture and solutions to meet business needs. Identifies new technologies and leads activities with external vendors and internal team to identify, evaluate and recommend application software solutions. Defines and leads proof of concept activity associated with technology assessment. Works with IS and business representatives to identify opportunities leading to the design and development of tools and applications in support of key initiatives. Documents the desired future state of application architecture, and documents the gaps between current and future states. Defines transition plans to close the gaps. Designs, documents and drives adoption of enterprise-wide architectures and frameworks. Assumes a leadership role in establishing and insuring compliance with IS governance policies and initiatives including standards, best practices and policies. Serves as subject matter expert in multiple technology areas. Assures that solution designs meet requirements for scalability, performance and quality in accordance with negotiated service level agreements.
Requirements for this position include:
1. Bachelor?s degree in computer science or other related field is required.
2. 10+ years experience in software or applications engineering and/or technical operations, preferably in a healthcare setting.
3. Work and/or academic experience building applications in common development frameworks, relational databases, and common Web protocols and services.
4. Experience with object relational mapping tools.
5. Experience with design tools, design patterns and familiarity with application of UML and class diagram representations.
9. Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to consistently exercise sound judgment and initiative in very stressful situations required. Ability to effectively manage competing priorities essential.
10. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff both inside and outside of IT essential. Experience dealing with external vendors required.
11. Demonstrated dedication to a positive attitude, strong customer service support and commitment to the achievement of Memorial?s strategic goals is required.
12. Demonstrated ability to convey technical knowledge in both written and verbal format. Formal presentation skills required.
13. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment is required.
14. Demonstrated ability to execute projects from start to finish including the development, measurement and reporting of key performance indicators and commitment to continuous quality improvement.
