Basic Function: 


Primary responsibility is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children that encourage their social, emotional, physical and intellectual development through designing and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum according to guidelines established by the Creative Curriculum and the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the Illinois Department of Children and Family services. 


 


Requirements for this position include:


1. Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood or related field with a minimum of 6 semester or 9 quarter hours of courses directly related to child care and/or child development from birth to age six strongly preferred. 


 


In lieu of bachelor's degree, the following would be considered: Sixty semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) of credit from an accredited college or university with 6 semester or 9 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development from birth to age six and enrollment in program leading to completion of bachelor's degree with significant progress within in one year of hire date in conjunction with a high school diploma or equivalent and being at least 19 years of age.


 


2. Progress toward the completion of a bachelor's degree will be measured through an established educational plan to be reviewed and revised on a yearly basis.  Demonstration of progress required within the first year of hire date.


 


3. Excellent communication skills.
