Basic Function:
Under the direction of the Chief Information Officer, the Security Officer oversees all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance, and adherence to the organization?s policies and procedures covering the security of and access to patient health information in compliance with federal and state laws and the healthcare organization?s information privacy and security practices. Develop, implemented and maintain all processes related to down time and disaster recovery with appropriate reporting to the CIO. Audit, develop, and test all security related compliance within the Information Services department.
Requirements for this position include:
1. Bachelor Degree in Health Information Management, Computer Science, Business, Health Care, or related discipline required.
2. CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) designation or similar security related certification required.
3. Minimum 4 years of security experience required.
4. Required knowledge of computer systems, architecture and process flow.
5. Required knowledge of Novell, Microsoft Windows systems, administrator and client/serve communications protocol, UNIX, RACF, Oracle, LDAP, XML and directory administration.
6. Required experience with MS Project and MS Office Automation suites.
7. Demonstrated experience with healthcare clinical and financial applications.
8. Demonstrated analytical skills required.
9. Demonstrated auditing and report writing skills.
10. Demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels of an organization.
11. Evidence of leadership, creativity, integrity, and initiative. Evidence of ability to achieve results and inspire others to do the same, personal accountability, and dedication to continue learning and investigating relevant technology required.

16. Availability for system support which may include, but is not limited to, 24 hour and/or weekend call for systems.
