Basic Function: The Windows Systems team is responsible for all Windows servers and related technologies including: VMware, AD services, Domain Controller OS and hardware life cycle. The Windows Lead Engineer will act as the technical lead and provide technical training, coaching and mentoring to others. Lead the daily activities of the team and provide support to establish priorities. Handle escalated issues. Provide technical evaluations and consulting support for projects. Assist the Manager of Technical Operations with assignments as required. Design, develop and implement various Enterprise level solutions using physical and virtual servers. Analyze business requirements (functional and technical) by conducting information gathering sessions with customers, analyzing the information and prioritizing the requirements to gain understanding of the business needs. Provide advanced technical support to the business for complex projects. Advanced troubleshooting and resolution of Sev 1 and Sev 2 problems. Be responsible for the selection, development and implementation of tools and techniques that allow constant monitoring of all IS systems and environmental hardware, software and conditions to maximize uptime and security of our critical IS assets. Responsible for automation of constant monitoring agents to assess performance, availability, and maintainability of all clinical and business applications.
Requirements for this position include:
1. Bachelor's degree in computer related field or six to eight years experience in server and network administration in lieu of degree is required.
2. Detailed knowledge of server operating systems, specifically Microsoft 2003 and 2008 Server and server performance management tools. Detailed knowledge of enterprise applications such as Active Directory, Exchange 2007, VMWare. Experience using diagnostic, monitoring and change management tools, such as Remedy, HP OpenView, HEAT, HP Insight Manager, SCOM and other tools as needed. Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution. Healthcare industry experience, particularly with Cerner Millennium a plus.
3. Demonstrated ability to successfully lead systems, teams, and security improvement projects.
4. Knowledge of server architecture required.
5. Experience with SAN storage and Oracle preferred.
6. Demonstrated experience assessing and addressing system management and security risks through integration of multiple products, tools and techniques required including but not limited to firewalls, antivirus applications, sniffers, universal agents, and monitoring applications.
7. Ability to assess, develop and implement creative solutions to improve system availability to meet system uptime goals required.
8. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills, planning skills, problem-solving skills, and change management skills.
9. Demonstrated ability to create accurate and understandable system documentation required to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical and technical audiences required.
10. Must possess strong skills in personal diplomacy and customer service and consistently demonstrate a high level of motivation, commitment to teamwork, professionalism and trustworthiness.
11. Must possess sound decision-making ability, operate well under pressure and be tenacious in resolving difficult problems.
12. Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with staff at all levels of the organization including medical staff and senior management. Must thrive in challenging technical and team based environment and be dedicated to success of the team and systems as a whole to improve the customer experience.
