Basic Function: Manages system wide strategic sourcing functions for the Memorial Health System (MHS), including the negotiation of contracts for the purchase of products, equipment and services for use enterprise wide. Project scope: manages and oversees day to day contracting activities for a $100M supply budget.  Leads and participates on multidisciplinary contracting teams and formulates recommendations for senior management consideration and approval.  Coordinates and oversees internal and external contracting resources. Responsible for the effective development, negotiation, communication and administration of contracts written for MHS facilities and directly oversees the required documentation and record keeping relative to cost reductions for MHS.  Addresses compliance issues for MHS and develops action plans to assure that MHS contracts provide optimal value to the organization and the communities that we serve.


 Requirements for this position include:


1Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or health care discipline is required, masters degree   preferred.


2.  Four or more years purchasing, contract development/administration, and supplier relations experience is required. Must possess a working knowledge of contract law and experience in developing contract language and performance/cost metrics. Previous management experience within the health care industry is desired.


3.  demonstrated ability to plan and direct the work of others is required.


4.  Proven negotiation, team facilitation, change management and conflict resolution skills are required.


5.  Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet, word processing, e-mail, project, database, and presentation software, preferably Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project Access, and Power Point).


6. Demonstrated experience and technical expertise with web-based product portfolio tools.


7.  Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.


8. Certified Materials Resource Professional (CMRP) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) designation, or the successful attainment of either designation within one year is required.
