Basic Function:


Perform responsible technical work on patients in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.  Responsible for the operation of various types of equipment and apparatus in providing assistance and support to the physicians conducting cardiovascular procedures. Responsible for the proper operation of x-ray equipment and radiation safety.  This work is performed under the supervision of the Manager of the Cardiac Cath Lab.


 


Requirements:


1.    Graduate of approved School of Radiology or equivalent training (if hired before September, 1990).


2.    Maintain an Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety license and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certificate. 


3.    Has successfully completed a basic EKG class.


4.    Has had a minimum of two years on the job training in a Cardiac Cath Lab.


5.    Radiation safety classes for all technologists working in the Cath Lab will be required.


6.    ACLS or current certification for approved examinations as approved by Manager or designee.


Demonstrates consistent proficiency for one year in performing all procedures including, but not limited to, caths, PTCA, stent, EP/ablation, AICD/pacemaker placement, peripheral vascular cases, and AAA, Percusurge (add any bet radiation, others).
