BASIC FUNCTION 


Under the general supervision of the laboratory manager, the phlebotomist assumes the responsibility for performing venipuncture and related procedures under the philosophy, policies, and procedures established by the hospital and department.  Additionally provides patient access and clerical assistance necessary to maintain the efficient productive operation of the laboratory.


 


SPECIFICATIONS:  KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, WORK EXPERIENCES



  1. High school graduate or equivalent required.

  2. Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or 1 year of phlebotomy experience required, preferably in a hospital setting.

  3. Participation in on call rotation required.

  4. Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with the state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order.

  5. Excellent communication skills coupled with strong customer relations skills.

  6. Experience as a phlebotomist in a hospital setting preferred.
