The assistant nurse manager operates within Memorial Medical Center's corporate, hospital and Nursing Division mission, philosophy, goals and objectives, and assists the nurse manager in planning, coordinating, and evaluating the activities of the patient care area(s) to provide quality patient care. The assistant nurse manager, under the leadership of the nurse manager, creates and maintains a work environment conducive to effective communication, collaboration, team building and professionalism. Assures that care provided is appropriate to the age of the patients serviced on his/her assigned unit and that staff competency requirements include age-specific components. In conjunction with the nurse manager, maintains positive physician and interdepartmental/intradepartmental relations as well as positive employee morale.

1.        RN registered in the state of Illinois.

2.        Certification in ACLS, TNS/TNCC, PALS/ ENPC and MICU preferred.

3.        BSN held or being actively pursued.

4.        At least three years experience in the clinical specialty of the unit supervised, with demonstrated leadership/management skills.

5.        Must possess knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards specific to the patient population supervised.

6.        Attendance at educational programs pertaining to areas of responsibility.

7.        Demonstrates initiative, excellent oral and written communication skills, human relations skills, and the ability to work cooperatively with others.

8.        Demonstrates strong customer service behaviors.
