Senior Surgical Technologist In Illinois Job Details

Basic function: To perform "scrub" technologist duties for scheduled surgeries, assisting with the draping, and utilization of instruments for a particular surgery and appropriate to the age of the patient serviced.  Demonstrates knowledge in the basic principles of sterile technique and sterilization procedures.

Requirements of the position include: Minimum of five years experience as an ST.  Satisfies qualifications as a First Assistant , as defined by policy, or successfully completes First Assistant requirements and classes at next date scheduled and meets obligations to maintin a First Assistant designation.  Demonstrates ability to provide advanced skills and serves as a resource to orientees and staff within two identified surgical specialties.  Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills.  Is flexible in response to change.  Certification as a surgical technologist is preferred.  Attends JCAHO, OSHA, and hospital/nurse manager-specified mandatory inservices.  Obtains eight contact hours of continuing education in area of interest.  Assists with the identification and development of processes and tools for skills validation.
