Basic Function:  Performs as liaison between facility, patient, and the Illinois Department of Public Aid to provide IDPA eligibility services.  Assists patient, and/or family member, and/or other patient representative to complete eligibility determination and/or Medicaid application.  Collects necessary documentation and signatures to act on behalf of patient within the Medicaid application process.  Facilitates all activities within the IDPA eligibility process as required by facility and/or IDPA.  Interacts as liaison directly within the IDPA network to facilitate delivery and direct system documentation of required patient/IDPA information in a cooperative venture with the Department of Human Services.  Provides leadership and specific expertise in the Medicaid application process within the facility.  Oversees the accuracy and timely filing of patient paperwork required by the Medicaid application process and monitors application status monthly noting any changes.  Maintains patient privacy in accordance with regulatory compliance.

 

 

Requirements for this position include: Bachelor's degree in Social work, Psychology, business, or related field; Direct employment experience (min 3 years) within the Illinois Department of Public Aid eligibility program; Must be able to plan, coordinate and control all responsibilities inherent to position; Must be professional, self-motivated, possess excellent oral and written communication skills, customer relations and listening skills; Must possess excellent organizational skills and highly developed detail orientated critical thinking and problems solving ability; Knowledge of personal computers and their associate user software is required with the ability to enter, retrieve and electronically notate system screens; Demonstrates ability to work independently; Prior public contact and demonstrated ability to work successfully with internal customers and external contacts; Limited physical requirements, primarily sedentary.
