Hours: 6:45am - 3:15pm OR 2:45pm - 11:15pm OR 10:45pm - 7:15am

Basic Function: Under supervision of the registered nurse, the CNA?performs a variety of tasks and services to assist in the provision of care and comfort of patients.? Is accountable for own actions and competencies. Communicates effectively with others.

 

Requirements for this position include: CNA (or nursing student with equivalent training and experience is highly desired); current CPR Certification preferred; recent clinical experience (of sufficient duration to allow competency validation within a few days); demonstrates competence to perform tasks/care elements; able to position and/or transfer an average adult patient; coordination skill sufficient to perform patient care and technical skills.

Units include: *2B Surgical is a 30 bed inpatient general surgical unit with 15 IMC beds. Patients include those having vascular and gastrointestinal surgery, and those with invasive monitoring needs. *2E Medicine is a 38 bed inpatient unit that cares for a variety of medical diagnoses such as COPD, diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, CHF, diabetes, and pneumonia. Eight of the beds are IMC beds with ventilators and monitors. *2E Oncology is a 28 bed inpatient unit (all private rooms). We provide treatments for cancer which may include surgical, radiation and chemotherapy. We also provide end-of-life care. In addition, we also have an Outpatient Infusion Room for chemotherapy, blood transfusions and pain management. *2G Surgical is a 30 bed inpatient unit where we care for patients having gynecologic, ear/nose/throat, or plastic surgery including limb reattachment and flap revision. Skin care is a major focus in this unit. *3A is our Adolescent Psychiatric unit that has 15 beds. Newly diagnosed patients are cared for here as well as those needing chronic management. *3B is an inpatient acute rehabilitation unit with mostly adult clients. It is an interdisciplinary department which includes PT, OT, Speech Pathology, Social Services and Pastoral Care. *4C is an outpatient and inpatient dialysis care for patients with acute and chronic renal failure. *4B Orthopedics is a 30 bed inpatient orthopedic unit. Patient types include: total joint replacement, laminectomy, anterior cervical fusion and bone pinning. This is where our JointWorks patients are cared for. *4G Neurology is a 30 bed inpatient unit with 6 IMC beds. Our patient population includes traumatic brain injury, craniotomy, spinal surgery, neurologic disorders, and seizures. *5A/G is a 35 bed acute psychiatric and medical psychiatric unit. We care for newly diagnosed patients as well as patients with illness exacerbation. *5B Nepgrology/Urology is a 30 bed medical and surgical inpatient unit for kidney transplants, dialysis and chronic renal disease, as well as many types of urologic disorders and operations. *5C Burn Unit is our 10-bed Regional Burn Center. The unit cares for burn victims of all ages and severity. *6B Cardiac Medical is a 37 bed unit that includes 6 CCU beds for medical coronary care clients such as patients who have had acute myocardial infarction, cardiac catheterization, stent placement and CHF. *6C is our Cardiovascular ICU for patients who have had open heart surgery, aneurysm repair, and other types of cardiovascular procedures. *6G Cardiac Surgical is a 38 bed stepdown unit where our open heart surgery patients are cared for after they leave the Cardiovascular Care Unit. *7A Pediatrics is our 7-bed inpatient pediatric and adult unit. We care for pediatric patients of all ages that do not require critical care nursing services, and we care for gynecologic surgical patients as well as Family Maternity Suites overflow patients. *7C is a 15 bed medical-surgical intensive unit. Many types of patients are cared for here, including multiple trauma, complex medical conditions, and surgical patients requiring intensive postoperative management. *Family Maternity Suites is a 25 bed unit for labor and deliver, postpartum, mother-baby, nursery, Special Care Nursery and Antepartum outpatient assessment. *Emergency Department is a 22-bed Level I Trauma Center with lots of action. Patients of all types and diagnoses present themselves for care, requiring a high level of flexibility among the nursing staff. *Clinical Support Team is our ?unit without walls?. Team members will float to any of our medical-surgical units and to our IMC units after completing in-house training. We also develop the CST nurses to float to our critical care areas and the Emergency Department. *PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) is the main Operating Room Suite which encompasses 14 operating rooms. This is a critical care area with much technology, invasive monitoring, and medications. *Wound and Ostomy Care is a team of individuals whose focus is on the management of patients with complex wound and ostomy needs. These nurses serve as consultants to the rest of the nursing staff housewide in the implementation of our Wound and Skin Protocols.
